I do a terrible job of hiding my dislike for the word networking. I want to connect. If we spent time connecting with others, as opposed to selling ourselves, the business will come. Period. You’ve heard me talk about my “prime real estate.” These are items near and dear to me and I never leave home without. They are: my iPhone, iPad, and coffee mug. Instead of promoting my own business, I promote my “lovemarks”…businesses and people who mean so much to me I would rather advertise for their success as opposed to my own.
Their success is important to me. Why? Because we connected…we are connected.
As you wrap up this week I challenge each of you to think about who/what are your lovemarks? What would you give your prime real estate to? Who considers you to be a lovemark? Do you have the type of reputation that others will fight for? If not, why not? There are a million people who do what you do. It isn’t until you decide to give up the idea of card swapping and start to embrace the idea of fearlessly fighting for others that you and your business will be unstoppable.
